ITAEWON  
 
Located above a main shopping street close to the Yongsan U.S. Military Post, Itaewon is hilly and crowded with large houses, villas and apartments. Transportation is convenient and there is shopping nearby. Many ambassadors have their residneces in this area, and there are a few embassies as well. The area is close to Grand Hyatt Hotel, and a short drive over the hill will bring you to down town. Jogging and hiking to the Mt. Nam-San is an added merit of Itaewon.
School bus access is good. There are several Christian schools in the area which provide school bus service. School bus service to Seoul Foreign and Seoul International School takes about 40 minuets to an hour.
 


  UN VILLAGE  
 
This compound in Hannam-dong is guarded and patrolled by the area guards. Overlooking the Han River, it is built on a hill with large homes and apartment complexes. Most houses are suitable for westerners. The German School is located near UN Village.
 


  HANNAM-DONG  
 
There area many nice houses in Hannam-dong. It is just down the hill from Itaewon, and travel time to City Hall can take anywhere about 15 to 20 minutes. Since there are several high ranking Korean officials' homes and foreign ambassadors' residences there is special security of many national police on duty 24 hours a day nearby. Hannam-dong is about 45 minutes from Seoul Foreign School and Seoul International School. There are 2 English language preschools in the area. School bus service is available to most of the foreign
 


  DONGBINGGO-DONG  
 
Many foreign embassies and ambassadors' homes are located in this area. Transportation is good. It is a pleasant, convenient residential area. Most houses are large, with gardens. All schools have buses to this area.
 


  YONHI-DONG  
 
Yonhi-dong is a residential area on the northwest side of Seoul. Houses are relatively large. Seoul Foreign School, Severance Hospital and Yonsei University are located in this area, and Swiss Grand Hotel is nearby. The area is relatively close to downtown Seoul 15 to 30 minutes by car depending on traffic

The big advantage for many foreigners choosing to live in Yeonhi-dong is its proximity to Seoul Foreign School and the British School.

 


  SUNGBUK-DONG  
 
It is a lovely suburban area of large houses. It is within 15 minutes drive to the down town area of Seoul. Located to the very north of the National Museum and Kyongbok Palace, it is an area many foreigners like to live in. A number of embassies have their residences here. And most of the managers of foreign corporations in Seoul love to find their home in this area. The big advantage to sungbuk-dong is the beauty and cleaner air, as the area is hilly wooded, and Bukhansan National Park nearby. School bus transportation is available for school children, and pre-school kids, and it is about 20 minutes from Seoul Foreign School. There are several supermarkets and other conveniences in the area, as well as 2 major hospitals close by.
 


  PYONGCHANG-DONG  
 
This area is located in the northern part of Seoul, close to Sungbuk-dong. It is within walking distance from Pukhansan National Park with fresh air, nestled in the mountains. It is a quiet and comfortable living area made up mostly of single houses with gardens. There are no high rise buildings, and rents generally are not quite as high as in Itaewon-dong and Sungbuk-dong. The area is located 8 km from Seoul Foreign School and downtown(city hall). It is 20 km to Kimpo Airport. There are several supermarkets with a good choice of good.
 


  BANGBAE-DONG/BANPO-DONG  
 
Bangbae/Banpo area is one of the locations where foreigners prefer to live, particularly the French, as the French School is there. There are many western style houses and villas in this area. Commuting time to city hall ranges from 30 to 50 minutes. School bus service is available for both Seoul foreign School and Seoul Int'l School
